Before the MCCD (death certificate) is issued, a Medical Examiner has to agree the proposed cause of death and the overall accuracy of the MCCD with the Doctor completing it. The Medical Examiner then discusses the cause of death with the deceased's next of kin and asks if they have any questions or concerns with care before death.
The call from the Medical Examiner may be from an unknown number so please answer all calls.
Once issued on the Medical Examiner's authority, the MCCD will be emailed directly to the Registration Office along with a telephone number for the next of kin.
When the MCCD has been received by the Registration Office you will receive a call to make an appointment to register the death or a text containing a link to make an appointment online.
The paperwork we need for the funeral to go ahead will be emailed directly to us by the Registrar.
We don't need a copy of the MCCD from you.
If you need copies of the MCCD you can get them from the Registration Office when you are there. They are £12.50 each.
